In depth

The extent of the unconscious and the problem with problems

Here I explore in depth how the unconscious mind affects our thoughts, decisions and challenges, and why awareness and self-knowledge are the key.

The unconscious mind

The extent of the unconscious

This refers to how much of our behaviour and thinking takes place at an unconscious level. According to scientific studies and psychological research, a large part of our mental activity and decision-making is in fact governed by the unconscious mind. This can include automatic reactions, patterns and habits that we are not always aware of.

Symptoms and causes

The problem with problems ❣️

When we talk about "the problem with problems", we mean the challenge of solving problems when we are not fully aware of their deeper causes. It is a matter of treating symptoms without addressing the underlying causes.

The unconscious and decision-making

Many of our decisions are made at an unconscious level. This can mean that we react to situations based on past experiences, feelings or unconscious beliefs, without necessarily being aware of it. The problem arises when we repeatedly make decisions that do not serve our overall wellbeing or the best interests of society.

Treating symptoms vs. treating causes

Focusing on the symptoms rather than the causes can lead to recurring problems. If we only deal with the outward signs of a problem, without understanding its deeper causes, we risk creating temporary solutions that do not address the root of the problem.

The key

The need for awareness and self-knowledge ❣️

Becoming more aware of our thoughts, feelings and decision-making processes is essential for tackling problems at a more fundamental level. Self-knowledge and self-development are the keys to understanding why we make certain decisions and how our unconscious thought processes can affect our lives.

Symbol ❣️

The heart symbol (❣️) here represents the need to bring a deep connection to our feelings and inner self into how we solve problems. It points to the importance of including empathy, love and understanding in our approach to problem-solving.

In short

In summary

"The extent of the unconscious and the problem with problems" is about recognising that many of our challenges may stem from unconscious processes, and that solving them requires a deeper understanding of our own mind and the underlying causes of our behaviour. It is an invitation to awaken awareness so that we can tackle problems with a more holistic and effective approach.
